kristen, i don't know of any vintage shops but trying to buy clothes for someone is hard, i think. it's so personal. especially if you don't wear the same style. why not try something a little less personal? dvds or books, for example. just an idea. sorry if this isn't helpful.

No, that is helpful, Emily. I know what you mean. I guess I'll think of something else to get her! Btw, I liked your blog entry. It was really interesting. Post something else! :))

Hi there - If you're still looking for a holiday gift for your niece, here's a vintage tip.
I own Kitsch-y-Cool Vintage which is located in Sleepy Poet Antique Mall just off South Blvd, near the new Scaleybark Station. We have hundreds of things in 400 sq ft. If there is something particualr you are looking for feel free to reach out to me - I'd be glad to help!

The BEST vintage store, by far, in Charlotte is a store called HONG KONG on Central Avenue. Run by locals, the store is small but offers AMAZING vintage household items, jewelry, shoes, clothing, and accessories. Their hours are a bit odd, so make sure you call 'em and check out what times they're open [I think they're closed Monday] so you don't get there on an off time!

Also, out in NoDa [North Davidson], there's an awesome store called THE RAT'S NEST which specializes in vintage tee's and lots of vintage cowboy boots! It's a really cool collection of tees, dresses, and pants with the largest selection of great old boots anywhere! Plus, shopping around the store, the people run it are so gracious and kind, they'll offer you a water or a beer while you shop! A fun place, to say the least, and totally great prices!
